The hospital is a mess I spent 16 hours there. Once the doctor said that I can go home I had to wait 3 more hours to get my medicines it does not make any sense
I told the doctors and everything about gallstones and no one wanted to believe me and I needed to lay down and the sister said I wasn’t allowed
Professional
Overall was treated with companion and respect.
I went into A&E because my GP sent me there after a blood test that had alarming results. It was 3 hours before a doctor saw me. He was totally dismissive of my condition and seemed very annoyed...he said the GP is wasting NHS resources by sending me there - this was a young Indian doctor. He told me I could wait to see what my repeat blood test results said at A&E or I could go home. I chose to wait and thank god I did. I was assigned to CDU unit, where I was seen by another doctor 7 hours of waiting. Total waiting time was 10 hours. However this female muslim doctor was very caring and loving. She said I had to be admitted to the hospital straight away. I was admitted and had to stay for 4 days. I had to be given intravenous antibiotic. Had I listened to the first Indian doctor who was so dismissive and went home, I could have died from sepsis.
I walked into A and E unit of KGH after being referred by a clinician from 111 on 26th April 7.15 PM. I had an accidental overdose of a medicine I am taking since a week. There were about 15 patients before me. Reception staff and nurses were kind and very helpful. My bloods were taken to analyse if everything was ok after overdose. The first meeting with doctor came soon after bloods were taken. He listened my health history and took details of my overdose. He asked about how I was feeling and informed me I had to wait to for blood test results and once it is ready he will review and do what is next . By this time it was 9.30. Next around 11.00 PM I was told to isolate myself in isolation area due to my already existing health concerns and I agreed. From then on no communication from anyone.Waited till 2 am no response and on enquiring was told my results are not ready. More waiting and I checked with staff again by 5.30 am to know my results came long ago but no doctor to review patients. I was eighth in que to be seen by Doctor.Waiting still continues and 7.30 am again I was told no doctors available.I will be seen only by day staff doctors. By 9.30 finally I was reviewed by a doctor She explained I was on an observance for six hours which night shift Dr never mentioned. My blood results was ok and Dr mentioned how to look after myself for next couple of days and let go.
Left in a corridor, with no information except wait there had to walk round to cdu at 2.10am to ask anything , to be told another 7-8 hrs after we originally arrived at 11pm the night before, I was with my daughter brought in by ambulance who was tacky cardic pain in chest and sweaty..
Staff were aware this happens sporadically but this time was worse and lasted longer hence calling ambulance.
I believe the treatment we have so far recieved is poor..its 4.49am now and still no doctor has seen my daughter. Terrible service
